Repairing your Gutter...

Following is one of the ways in which you can repair your gutter.
  • Always ensure that the ladder that you are planning to use is sturdy and the shoes also need to be of a good grip to avoid any accidents whatsoever. Before placing the ladder at a certain spot, test the area and make sure you will be able to balance the ladder and yourself.

  • If your gutter is littered with debris, using the wire brush clean everything till you are able to see the surface of the gutter.

  • Then apply the rust neutraliser to the gutter. This will shield the gutter from any rust corrosion in the future.

  • The surface needs to be sealed with a rubber compound or bitumen. You also get repair kits easily that includes sheeting and sealant. Then you will need to coat the gutter with primer with an equal mixture of Gripset 51 (may be included in the waterproofing set) and water.

  • After the primer dries, you will need to apply a thick coat of the compound. Then you will need a sheet the size of the gutter to be pasted on the original gutter. Ensure no air bubbles are formed.

  • Once the sheet is glued on and dried, you will need to apply another coat so that the compound is sealed completely.

  • Once everything is in place and everything has dried as a test by hosing the gutter and the roof to check the flow of water is not being interrupted with the repair work.
